Happy nephew and uncle.
I am in Connecticut for my grandmother Minerva's 90th birthday party and it has been a wonderful opportunity for all the sibs to hang with our Aunt Patty and Uncle Nolan. The visit is a bit shorter than I had hoped because my flight was cancelled on Friday night in anticipation of the impending storm. However, JetBlue was fantastic and got me on the first flight out on Saturday morning.
It actually turned out to be so much better to fly in the morning instead of taking the redeye. Plus, one of the Project Runway season 7 constestants was on my flight, Amy from Oakland. Ironically, I had just watched her the evening before as I waited to find out if my flight would be cancelled. I am so proud of her work and that she's from Oakland. I had even been thinking, "would be so cool to run into her some day" and there she was!
Today I'm catching up with one of my best friends from childhood, Karen and hopefully tomorrow, if all works out well, I'll see my other best peep from growing up - Lori. I also have a coffee date with a photographer I use to work for, many summers ago, Peter Tepper.

Beautiful Blue
Just an observation but it seems that JetBlue has more than their share of beautiful, gay, flight attendants. Perhaps it is because I'm flying between DC and Oakland/SF, two of the country's gay meccas. Eye candy supreme.

Flying the Friendly Sky

We’ve now completed four of our five flights during our American vacation expedition. It began nearly ten days ago with a flight from London to Newark then DC to JFK, continued with JFK to SF and today SF back to JFK. We’ve flown Continental, Jet Blue and United.
Something happens in first class that us Economy “Plus” folks just don’t get to experience. Each time we exit the flight we pass the remnants of the parties that seem to take place behind the curtains of first class. Blankets are strewn around the floor, pillows misplaced amongst seats and even articles of discarded clothing litter the isles. Exactly what goes on in first class?
Us, we sat in the back end of the flight amongst the common folk, because we like to. We do not laugh at the lady in our row who has a face mask on and lifts it periodically to insert stinky garlicky bites of wilted salad. We do not get upset when they charge us $5 for a box of junk food. We rejoice in the free water that we can flavor with real bits of lemon or lime, no ice thank you very much.
Jet Blue is the winner. It was a short flight but we had leg room, leather seats and hundreds of live tv stations. Just for effect I tossed my pillow and blanket on the floor as we exited the flight. I too can do the first class dance.
