Business Volunteers for the Arts Feasibility Study
About eight years ago I ran a program called Business Volunteers for the Arts here in San Francisco. Unfortunately the program folded along with its host Business Arts Council about 18 months ago. It is a real loss for the community.
Since my return I've been told by arts, business and funding folks that the program is missed. In response I'm put together a committee of arts and business leaders to conduct a feasibility to study to see if we can re-launch the program. We're keeping a blog http://www.bvastudy.blogspot.com/ and would love your input in the study. All are welcome to share their feedback.

Sparking
That's how I feel today - sparky! My pilot light is finally getting ignited. It is the cumulative impact of spending quality time with "old" friends.
Over lunch today with my friend Michael I felt a change. He was reflecting on the work I use to do with Business Arts Council running Business Volunteers for the Arts. It was extraordinary to hear how his volunteer project changed his life. It was my tipping point. For the past several months the love has been coming my way and then reconnecting with Michael pushed me into the zone. I would call it the Amy Getting Her Groove Back Zone.
After lunch I immediately emailed all the Alumni Business Volunteers for the Arts that I could find in my address book and proposed a reunion. Instead of running away from the arts and saying what I'm not doing I now realize I should embrace the arts as my area of expertise while continuing to expand my skills and scope of work.
This has been a big day of revelations. Good thing I had an ice cream sundae for dinner to keep me energized.

Rednecks like Us
The San Francisco Bay Area did open up its Golden Gates for us yesterday and also gave us some fantastic red necks. We're quite sunburned.
Stephen and I each did our own adventuring and ended up walking miles around the city. I met up with my friend Claudia who use to work with me at Business Arts Council. It was so easy to fall back into flowing conversation after all these months.
Next Stephen and I met up with my cousin Diana in Berkeley. We sat at Berkeley Marina and soaked up the rays. The day was capped with our friends Stacey and Stefan in Alameda. There two little boys kept us busy while we all enjoyed sushi.
Today the super fog has returned. We are heading out to the beach to brunch with our cousins Julie and Michael. Looks like we need not worry about the sidetrip to pick up suntan lotion. Then this evening we hook up with our world-travel friends John and Nicole.
DC was the holiday portion of our trip, now we're on the mini-gatherings. Good thing we have Connecticut next week to get some more rest and relaxation before heading back to London.

Open Up Those Golden Gates
Stephen and I head out to California today. It is his first visit in more than a year and I honestly can't remember when I was last there. Maybe it was last Summer when I presented the Busines Arts Council Board Leadership Training Program. So far it has been very easy to slip back into life in the States. California will be the final frontier.
